Dust Bowl Era Presentation:  “Black Sunday, April 14, 1935, was the day of the worst duster of them all.  The storm carried twice as much dirt as was dug out of the earth to create the Panama Canal.  The canal took seven years to dig, the storm lasted a single afternoon.  More than 300,000 tons of Great Plains topsoil was airborne that day.” (Taken from The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan).  Come join the Open Hearts class on Sunday, May 20th, 10:45 am in the Village Commons to relive the Dust Bowl era through recorded images, folk songs performed by Richard Brack and the sharing of their childhood memories of this epic time in the history of the Great Plains by two of our class members.

Afternoon at the Movies:  Join us on Tuesday, May 15th, 2:00 pm in Cinema Center. This month’s feature film will be “Forrest Gump.”

An Outreach...
  Wellington United Methodist Fellowship

As the Northern Colorado region continues to expand, it is important that our church find ways reach out to new communities and families in the area. In October 2007, First United Methodist Church began working with the Rocky Mountain Conference to establish a new United Methodist church in Wellington. In July 2009, Pastor Susan Warren was appointed as full-time pastor to Wellington United Methodist Fellowship. Each day, Wellington Fellowship grows -- in people, in service and in faith. We welcome your participation in this exciting time of growth in the church and hope you can help us to spread the word with your friends and neighbors. Come see what's new in Wellington!
